Key Global Initiatives: Moody Church Embraces the Work in Cuba

The Moody Church has a long and rich history of missions. For over a hundred years, they’ve helped lead the way in sending out missionaries to least reached places in the world. Recently, The Moody Church has embraced the importance of partnership with indigenous churches as a key component of their missions paradigm. They call these partnerships “KGIs” (Key Global Initiatives).

Neopolis is one of those KGIs. But they don’t just give money to the work. They work hard to build relationships with their partners. Moody’s Global Outreach Pastor, Bill Van Tuinen, has joined us on two trips to Cuba. On one of these trips, he was overwhelmed with emotion as he considered the gospel sacrifice being made by our partners there who have so little. He returned to his church determined to do more to empower them. Their church increased giving to Neopolis by 33%. But they didn’t stop there.

Bill challenged his church to give a one-time gift to enable the Cuban pastors to have sustainable sources of income. The church responded overwhelmingly, giving $83,000 to the project.

The Moody Church’s emphasis on KGIs is enabling our Cuban brothers to pass the torch, less encumbered by the financial stresses endemic to work in Cuba. Praise God!
